Roxanne is a little restaurant located on the busy Glebe Point Road, and near the buzzing Broadway Shopping Centre. I heard a lot of good comments about it from Minikuikun for quite a while already. So after our late night shopping at Broadway Shopping Centre with Minikuikun, we followed the ramp and down to Glebe Point Road to try this classy looking restaurant. We arrived at 9.30pm, and it was still full of lots of smiley diners. The decor was classy, with candles on each table and velvet curtains through out the restaurant. The staffs were friendly and efficient. The guys started off with a couple of Coronas, while I enjoyed my glass of icy cold water with lemon slices. Soon, our 2 nicely presented entree arrived.

The crispy soft shell crab with paw paw and mango salsa was a fusion dish with the South East Asian flavour. The batter for the soft shell crab was light and crispy, and the use of mangoes in the salsa gave a sweet touch to the dish. The salsa was so delicious, it is a perfect salsa to accompany any deep fried food. I think they can skip the mayo in this dish, the crab and the salsa were well seasoned already.

The grill chicken tendonloin skewers were 3 large skewers of chicken on a bed of salad leaves. The salad leaves were perfectly dressed, and the chicken were slightly marinated and very tender. For someone who prefers their food spicy, the mild chili sauce came with the dish would add a little bit of heat to the chicken.

While the boys opted for meat, I chose the seafood hotpot. It was absolute stunning. The Napolitana sauce was rich and full of seafood flavour. The seafood were fresh; pieces of salmon were fat and tender, while the prawn was huge and sweet. The fried sweet potato juliennes on top of the soup added some extra sweetness to the soup. You can choose to have bread or rice to be served with this dish, as I am a big fans of bread, I chose the bread. This was a delicious soup for winter, or a cool and windy evening just like the night I went.

Herby had the BBQ plate. It had a chicken skewer, a lamb sausage, a piece salt and pepper pork, a Rib eye fillet and a lamb cutlet. It also came with 2 sticks of Turkish bread and 3 dips. The chicken skewer was actually the same as the entree we have ordered. I sampled a little bit of the pork and the dips. The pork was well marinated and quite soft. It had a slightly crisped skin around it. The 3 dips were hommus, balsamic and red pepper. You could enjoy the 3 different texture and flavours at the same time; nutty to sweet to spicy. I particularly like the aged balsamic, it was aromatic and sweet. Minikuikun ordered the rip eye steak. It looks delicious and the steak was quite big in size. He cleaned the plate with a smile on his face.

Time for dessert ! The guys ordered the Lychee Ice cream while I had my eye on the apple dumplings. It was 3 fried apple dumplings and a scope of vanilla ice cream with generous amount of syrupy sauce.
The dumplings were piping hot. The apple filling was sweet and soft and flovoured with the lovely cinnamon. The saffron, honey and fig was sticky and sweet. Indeed, very very sweet. But it was delicious on top of the icy cold vanila ice cream. The fig pieces was soft and plump, fit in nicely with the crispy apple dumplings. It was a great night, with delicious food and good friends around, I enjoyed it very much!

Roxanne is cosy with great services, good food and a minimal price tag, with a couple of good friends, certainly worth a second visit.
