Cafe Hernandez, Potts Point

After stuffing our faces at the Lincoln, Darjeeling mentioned that she was shown to a 24 hours cafe around the block. So we all made the trek there for a nice cup of coffee to finish off our night.
Once you turn into King Cross Road, you cannot miss Cafe Hernandez. Roasting and serving coffee since 1972, this cafe certainly seems to be popular with the locals, as there was a constant stream of people dropping in to get their caffeine fix well into the night.
Outside of the cafe / Inside, a wall full of paintings
The interior of the cafe definitely shows its age; it is like a treasure trove with a lot of oil paintings on the wall. On the far side of the cafe there was a coffee roaster on display, and a wall full of coffee beans. There was also a piano next to the coffee roaster and I wondered if anyone actually play the piano ... live music!

Signage on the door / Coffee beans ... lots of them!
As we were still full from our dinner, we just ordered coffee and a churros to share between us.

(top) Mocha / (middle) Vienna Coffee / (bottom) Churros

Herby and I both ordered mocha, and while the coffee was nice and strong, I find it somewhat lacking in chocolate taste. Darjeeling had a Vienna coffee, and was shocked when the coffee was served. Half of the Vienna coffee was actually fresh cream; however, Darjeeling did find that she needed all the cream to balance out the strong coffee underneath.

The churros was average; perhaps it would have tasted better if it were fresher. All in all, this is a nice little cafe for late night caffeine fix while soaking up the atmosphere.
